Focus Area 3: Inclusive Leadership, Gender Equality and Social Justice - ILEGESOJ
Focus area Purpose:
To equip impoverished rural
adolescent girls and young women in Tanzania with the knowledge, skills, and
platforms to become confident leaders, advocate for gender equality, and demand
justice, enabling them to challenge harmful norms and actively participate in
decision-making and community development.
Focus area Priority/Goal:
We strive to empower at least 500,000
impoverished rural adolescent girls and young women aged between 10 to 30 years
old in Tanzania by 2050 to become leaders, gender
equality and social justice advocates capable to challenge, reject and
transform harmful social practices and cultural norms that limit their
potentials and participation in decision-making processes at levels.
I. We design and implement tailored leadership training sessions and mentorship programs for the impoverished rural adolescent girls and young women to help them contest for leadership positions and participate in decision-making processes all levels.
II. We build capacities on gender equality and social justice advocacy, legal literacy, and girls and women’s rights, to ensure targeted impoverished rural adolescent girls and young-women understand their legal rights and stand to raise their voices to claim their rights and dignity-respect.
III. We engage communities in general, male members in particular and various stakeholders to take lead in advocating for the prevention of gender-based violence, fighting harmful social and cultural practices and norms hindering the value of girls and young-women and promote their participation in decision-making and community development processes.
IV. We provide emergency social assistance to impoverished rural adolescent girls and young-women survivors of gender-based violence, support and linking them with legal aid facilities to access justice.
V. We collaborate with local, national and international stakeholders to build a strong and vibrant network and movement to support impoverished rural adolescent girls and young women in Tanzania to live a dignified and improved life.
Focus area Interventions (Actions):
