Focus Area 2: Socio-economic Empowerment and Inclusion - SEI
Focus area Purpose:
We want to equip impoverished rural adolescent girls and young women in Tanzania who are out of schools with practical livelihoods and technological skills and, creating access to
economic opportunities and initiatives which directly address poverty and
foster financial independence and participation in decision-making processes at
different levels for their socio-economic inclusion.
Focus area Priority/Goal:
We aim to end extreme
poverty and illiteracy to at least 500,000 impoverished rural
adolescent girls and young women out of schools aged between 15 to 30 years old in
Tanzania by 2050 enabling them to be productive, economically
and socially independent and active, and live dignified and empowered
lives.
Focus area Interventions (Actions):
To achieve our goal under this focus area, we
implement the following set of activities:
I. We provide support to impoverished rural adolescent girls and young women to access training on practical vocational and eco craft skills, information technology and digital skills, entrepreneurship and small businesses initiation skills tailored to local and emerging labor markets to create pathways to employment and financial freedom.
II. We engage communities through dialogues, campaigns and trainings to abolish restrictive gender-norms and roles; reduce stigma around impoverished rural adolescent girls and young women on education access and promote equal and equitable economic opportunities for all.
III. We mobilize financial resources and materials to support impoverished rural adolescent girls and young-women to initiate income-generating activities and services for their economic independence.
IV. We initiate, build, equip and operate modern vocational and technological skills training centers with incubation and acceleration programs for the neediest impoverished rural adolescent girls and young using gender-responsive methods in skills teaching delivery.
